Blog #8: Option #3 "The Method" by Janet Fitch

Both of the stories “The Method” (pg.97) and “Morocco Junction 90210” (pg.122) were very interesting to me but if I were to choose one between these two stories for a recommendation I would have to go with “The Method.” To be very sincere I believe that it’s really hard to choose between any novels because it also depends on the other reader who is going to read it after and find out what it’s about because maybe they have a different prospective than we do but in this case we the readers would have to go with the one that we enjoyed. The one that I would recommend would be “The Method.” I choose this story because to me it was very simplistic and easy to understand. This story told everything about it. It stated where it took place, the characters names, the year it took place, etc. I would also recommend it because of the way that the narrator wrote it for us. Not only because it was plain and simplistic but also because throughout the story it was very straight forward to each of the characters. It was also very abrupt when it came to reading it. I have never read a story like that before. With all those intense and abrupt vocabulary word that the narrator has used made me want to read more of it. I really think that the narrator did a magnificent job in writing this story. I give a whole lot of credit to Janet Fitch. I think that she is an incredible narrator. So this is mainly why I choose the story “The Method.”

  1. Yes, Love your take on "The Method." I didn't know what was about to happen next. I normally with certain stories you know which angle they are coming from, but this one was a bit difficult to decipher. I found myself trying to figure it out. I wanted to know okay what is about to happen. The narrator did a great job of concealing the what was a about to happen next. She did not give away too much. That to me, is writing at it's best. Writing that keeps you engaged and you are unable to put the book down.

  2. Hi Jazmin, I agree with you about finding it a little bit hard to choose one story between The Method and Moroccojunction 90210. But, I also think that, The Method is more interesting and enjoyable for the readers. The surprising character change of the main character Holly, keeps us reading the story till the end. I could not wait to find out finally what happens to her and Richard. How they will establish their relationship or would it be a solid relationship at all? I liked your blog, because of it's simplicity. Whatever you felt, you wrote it down honestly. Good Job!

  3. I like you also liked “The Method” more. I agree when recommending a novel it can be really hard, because a lot of times it depends on who you are recommending it to. I also liked that it was simple to understand. It was straight forward. I liked how we knew who each character was. The writer took time to describe who they were. It made it very simple and not confusing. One thing that you said was that the story ended suddenly and you had not read a story like that before. I have to agree with you. I have not read a story that ended so suddenly. I was surprised at how quick the story seemed to go by. I also wanted to read more. I think Janet Fitch did a great job. I enjoyed reading your blog and look forward to reading more from you in the future.
